Qualifications of graduates of Kazakhstani universities will be recognized abroad

The qualifications earned by graduates of Kazakhstani universities are aligned with European qualifications. Starting in 2021, all Kazakhstani Diploma Supplements will be required to indicate the comparability of Kazakhstani higher education qualifications with European ones.

Since 2010, Kazakhstan has been a full member of the Bologna Process, which was initiated by education ministers from 29 countries in 1999 to promote the mobility of citizens in the labor market, strengthen the competitiveness of European higher education, and harmonize national higher education systems.

To ensure the comparability of qualifications earned in different countries, a comprehensive Qualifications Framework for the European Higher Education Area (QF-EHEA) was developed and approved at the 2005 Conference of Education Ministers of the Bologna Process participating countries.

To prepare the self-certification report, an interdepartmental working group was established by order of the Minister of Education and Science. The working group included representatives from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken," industry associations, and Kazakhstani universities.

This working group developed the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education (NQF HE) and prepared a report on its compatibility and comparability with the EHEA.

On September 15 of this year, the self-certification report of the National Qualifications Framework for Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan was accepted by the Bologna Process Secretariat. This demonstrates the successful harmonization of Kazakhstan's national higher and postgraduate education system with the education systems of the European Higher Education Area.
